Indian Memories

Indian Memories by Maureen Venville is an intuitive work, Maureen never plans her paintings and only gives them a title when she knows they are finished. She will study them to see what titles they suggest to her. This work is acrylic on canvas, and it measures 19.5 x 15.5 cm. It is ready to hang with all wires a D rings insitu. The sides are painted in a complementary colour, so that a frame is not absolutely essential. A colorful and imaginative work. Maureen spent a lot of time in India, she felt it was her second home. There was something very spiritual about this country that appealed to her. She spent time in the cities as well as time in the mountains of Northern India and Nepal. As her work is intuitive, she didn't set out with any preconceived ideas of what this painting was going to look like finished. To her though, it seemed to be a memory that she has picked out of her memory bank from her time in this beautiful country. It can be chaotic at times and at other times it can be the most peaceful country to live in. One can feel the chaos of the cities in this painting and also the peacefulness of the northern mountains with their beautiful waterfalls. You can make out an elephant dressed up in all its regalia that the people used to parade through the streets at festival times. It has a feeling of airiness about it reminiscent of being so high up in the mountains that you felt like you could almost touch the sky, a wonderful memory indeed! and a beautiful and colorful painting.
